Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula has sensationally claimed that Speaker Ekwe Ethuro conspired with top Jubilee leadership to rig the opposition in the senate.
The opposition team failed in its bid to shutdown controversial amendments to elections laws, which would now allow electoral body to use manual system as a backup to electronic voting system.
In a Press Conference on Friday, Wetangula claimed that nominated senator Hoses Ochwang’i should have been barred from voting on behalf of Kisii Senator Chris Obure.
“The government was determined to rig us and the speaker was the target on this. It is ridiculous that the speaker could admit Ochwang’i to vote without listening to our argument,” he said.
“In my opinion, even that one vote matters and I expected Sen. Janet Ong’era to cast it. I am yet to understand why he declined Ong’era’s letter. He just rigged us,” he added.
Obure, who has since ditched to Jubilee from ODM, assigned Ochwangi to vote on his behalf instead of Ong’era, whom he nominated in 2013.
