Senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro is set to defend his seat during the second term of the Senate.
An associate of the Speaker said that contrary to the notion that he had given up, Mr Ethuro is lobbying to retain the seat.
“In the history of Parliament, everybody has always defended their position until the voter makes their choice,” a senator acting as Mr Ethuro’s pointman is quoted by Nation.
Mr Ethuro is banking on his first term record to clinch a second term.
Ethuro is expected to battle it out with Charles Nyachae, who chaired the defunct Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution.
