Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has criticised the European Union Election Observation Mission in Kenya over its report on August 8 and October 26 presidential elections.

Duale accused the EU observers of overstepping their mandate concerning Kenya's electoral process, saying the observation group was not 'special' to lecture the country's leadership.

"The EU observation mission must be reminded that it was just like any other mission group, like the African Union and the others, and it should not start dictating to Kenya," said the Garissa Township MP.

Duale was reacting to Marietje Schaake's remarks who on Wednesday told European Parliament that 'rights were not always upheld by security officers during the electioneering period'.

Schaake, who was EU chief observer, went ahead to 'lecture' Kenya, Duale says, by saying: "The independence of institutions such as Judiciary should clearly be respected by all."

"Integrity should be baked into the electoral system, regardless who is in charge," she told the House in Strasbourg, France. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Garissa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
