The CS was compelled to put off the much-awaited rally after losing a close relative.

The event, which was slated for Sunday, was expected to change the political tide in Trans Nzoia.

According to Wamalwa’s aide, the CS lost his aunt and the burial will be held on Saturday thereby making hard for him to organize a rally the following day.

"The Cabinet Secretary’s aunt will be laid to rest on Saturday. It will not be possible for him to wake up to the event on Sunday since the death has affected him emotionally," said aide Dan Wafula.

The late Regina Wanyama was killed by suspected gangsters last week in Muungano.

The aide said the new date for the long-awaited rally will be communicated.

He also said Wamalwa’s has much interest in the Trans Nzoia governor seat.

He further called on his supporters not to listen to rumors that President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked him to keep off the region's politics during the next general polls.
