The Auditor General Edward Ouko has asked for more time to conduct out audits in various ministries on how the Eurobond money was spend before giving a comprehensive report.

Speaking at a Naivasha hotel on Thursday, Ouko said his office is carrying out audits in various ministries to establish how much was spent on different projects.

“My office is carrying out investigations on all ministries on how the money was channelled to different projects and after we come up with a comprehensive report, we will hand it over to Public Investments Committee in Parliament,” he stated.

Ouko maintained that answers being sort by different parties over how the billions of shillings were spend can only be found by a comprehensive audit of all ministries.

“We have to go back to the ministries and look at their spending in terms of how much they allocated to this and this project. That way, we will have all questions answered,” said the Auditor General.

He, however, faulted some ministries for commencing their own audit of the Eurobond money given to them saying they did it before his office released audit reports for year 2014-15.

The Coalition for Reform and Democracy  criticised Ouko for remaining mum over the matter when they raised questions on the specific projects the money was channelled to.
