Kenya is ruled by dynasties from parliamentary seats to the presidential posts. A good example is political dominance by the Moi, Kenyatta and Odinga families.

Kenyatta was our first president and his son Uhuru is the fourth president. Oginga Odinga vied for the top seat and his son Raila Odinga wants the same.

In the same spirit, Gideon Moi looks like he is preparing to follow his father's "Nyayo" and rule for decades.

However, Sonko believes that the poor should also be given a chance to rule this country. The Nairobi Senator was quoted by the nation saying, "Some people think the presidency is for dynasties, I will prove to them that even a Kenyan from a poor background like myself can win the coveted seat.”

This is a school of thought shared by many Kenyans but they lack a platform to express themselves. Why should we have four presidents from two families yet we are over 42 million Kenyans?

Sonko believes he is able to stamp out this barbaric belief. He shares a poor background with many Kenyans and he has called on them to vote him as president in 2032.

Sonko should continue with this gospel though most people do not consider him poor. He has to rally the majority against those who manipulate them using money or family links.

Owning factors of production and corruption does not make you a leader. Being related to a leader should not be a basis for choosing those who govern us.
