Kenya Power is poised to ensure that every household is across the country is connected with electricity.
Chief Executive Officer Ken Tarus said that the company has started the implementation of Phase II of the Last Mile Connectivity Project (LMCP) funded by both the African Development Bank and the World Bank
"314,200 households will be connected with electricity across the 47 counties at a cost of Sh13.5 billion," he said in Eldoret town during the 14th Moi University annual World Congress conference, Saturday.
"African Development Bank (AfDB) will pay 87% of the amount while Kenya will provide 13% of the amount," he added.
He reiterated that in the in Phase I of the (LMCP) 314,200 were connected with electricity at a cost of Sh13.5 billion funded by AfDB.
“Under the World Bank-funded LMCP, 312,500 households are targeted for connection at a cost of Sh15 billion,” noted Tarus.
He, however, urged companies to come up with alternative energy such as geothermal for the country to have enough energy.
