Deputy President William Ruto in Eldoret on December 22, 2017 (Photo/Joe Khisa)The Jubilee government is working towards ensuring at least 13 million people are enrolled with the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) within the next five years.Deputy President William Ruto says since they took power in 2013, the country has seen an increase of Kenyans registered with NHIF from 3.5 million to the current 6.8 million.He said they expect to add another 500,000 people into the government-run medical cover in 2018.Speaking in Eldoret town on Friday, Ruto further pointed out the government's commitment to ensuring every citizen has access to quality health services."We've improved NHIF terms to an extent that now Kenyans enrolled under that cover can get specialized treatment for cancer and dialysis services," Ruto said.
"Our target is to reach 13 million people with NHIF in 2022 which will basically mean every Kenyan will have been covered," he added.
