Christmas is a season where most people try to be at their best.
As a result, most people buy new clothes, shoes and for the ladies the salon is a must do.
All these activities are aimed at ensuring the special day is not less than expected: smart and bubbly. A few hours to the D-day, most salons are filled with ladies trying to get the latest hairstyles.
In the outskirts of Nakuru Town, Free Area Estate I decided to pay a visit to my all-time stylist to see how I can also "rock" this festive season. I call her 'Moh' but she tells me from 2016 I should be addressing her by her official name which is Maurine Njeri.
As usual, I find her busy with clients and so I opted to stay put for 30 more minutes. You see, when you are focus in getting the best, patience is key something few of us don't understand or rather we ignore.
We discuss the kind of hairdo I want and after a minute of consultation we settled on braids.
“This Christmas it is important to plait your hair in the simplest style since there is a lot going on with time being limited," she advices.
As she continues with her work, I get a little curious and ask her how business this Christmas is. With a bit of reluctance, Njeri says that the clients have increased and she hoped to make enough money to see her through January.
“There’s progress and positive response this season. The problem is that you people never leave bargaining behind," she says smiling.
Njeri has been my stylist for the last two years and I cannot recall a day she disappointed.
After two hours she was done with me and ready for the next customer.
