Ex-Kisii senator Chris Obure reportedly disappeared with millions of shillings handed to him by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday at Nakuru State Lounge.

Over 1000 leaders from both Kisii and Nyamira Counties had paid President Uhuru Kenyatta a courtesy call to discuss a number of issues including October elections.

According to a witness who spoke in confidence, Obure was given money to give attendees as fare back home only to disappear, causing commotions in the State Lounge.

“He was given some money and first gave ordinary people. We received Sh1000 each as ordinary people but some leaders complained that he had disappeared.

“They pursued him and some even missed food just because they wanted to know his whereabouts. I don’t know whether they managed to find him,” said the source.

But when contacted by the Star, Obure refuted claims adding that all attendees had been given cash as directed by the president.

“Those are just rumours. As a leader, I ensured everyone travelled safely back home and whatever information you’re getting, it’s totally misleading,” he said.
