Moses Kilonzo was released from the Kamiti maximum prisons three months ago, after serving a seven-year jail term for murder, bought a rope and was in the process of hanging himself when his friend David Maina burst into the single room they shared at Kimbo estate and cut him loose.

According to Maina, his only friend, Kilonzo started showing signs of depression early this year, when he opted to spend days indoors crying as attempts to link up with his family has been futile and frustrating.

Kilonzo had served his jail term at the Kamiti maximum prison after he was convicted of manslaughter, after murdering his wife and cousin after he allegedly found them red handed on their matrimonial bed.

According to his friend, his family in Ukambani wants nothing to do with him, while his neighbors in Ruiru treat him with suspicion and efforts to start off again have been futile.

Maina, who is a welder at Ruiru, mobilized the local people to raise few shillings for his upkeep and fare to their rural home, where they intend to engage Kilonzo’s family in an attempt to convince them to accept the man back.
