Speaking in Nakuru on Thursday, the former councillors union secretary Geoffrey Mutai said they have been accused of grabbing plots and roads which was not the case.

Instead, they want to be viewed as persons who embrace development and have ideas that can help move forward both the county and national governments.

Mutai urged the county government to incorporate them in development activities and involve them in leadership.

Additionally, they request to be exempted from the parking and land rate fees within the respective local authorities they served.

At the same time, the 400 former councillors, are now demanding a payment of up to Sh1.5 milion each from the national government.

Further, the councillors want an extra provision of monthly payment of Sh30,000 for each member who served at-least for one term.

“We are want the government which we used to serve, an amount of Sh1.5 million,” said Mutai, adding that “most of us are ageing and deserve proper medical care which is in line with the constitution”.
