Former Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) commissioner Ambassador Jack Tumwa has said that any IENC commissioner found culpable of an electoral offence should be imprisoned.

Tumwa who served in the commission before its disbandment in 2008 however, says the personnel who are to manage the election process should be highly competent for the process to be credible.

“The electoral process is very vital for Kenyans and must be handled and managed professionally and transparently. Any commissioner found culpable of an offence should be imprisoned to realize how important elections are,” he said.

He however, reiterated that the government should use the electronic backup as opposed to the manual backup as there is little trust between the government and the opposition.
