Ex-powerful Finance minister and one time presidential candidate Simon Nyachae has been admitted at Nairobi Hospital after complaining of chest pains.
A source who sought anonymity said the veteran leader had collapsed a week ago before the family decided to rush him for monitoring.
"He fell while at home and was rushed to Nairobi Hospital. He has since been admitted at ICU as doctors monitor his situation," said the source.
The source said: "For days now, he hasn't been in good health and we hope he will recover soonest."
Regarded as a super civil servant in his youthful days, Nyachae could climb the ladder to become one of the most dependable leader for Abagusii community.
In 2002, he ran for presidency on a Ford People ticket and finished third behind Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta.
