A group of leaders drawn from South Rift region has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure regional balance as he looks to appoint a new Cabinet.
Led by Chepalungu MP Gideon Koskei, the leaders asked Uhuru to consider former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto for a Cabinet position, after the former NASA co-principal agreed to dump the Opposition for Jubilee during the repeat presidential poll.
Koskei said Rutto played an integral part in ensuring that Uhuru garnered more votes in the South Rift region during the October 26 presidential repeat polls.
“The former governor sacrificed his political ambition to ensure that President Kenyatta and Ruto get maximum support in the South Rift region in the repeat presidential elections,” Koskei said on Sunday.
Rutto, who lost his gubernatorial seat to former Sotik MP Joyce Laboso supported NASA leader Raila Odinga for the presidency during the August polls before its results were nullified by the apex court and a repeat ordered.
