Taita Taveta Governor-elect Granton Samboja has promised a 'new beginning' to county residents after clinching the gubernatorial seat in the just concluded elections.
Samboja, a former journalist, defied the odds to beat seasoned politicians like incumbent Governor John Mruttu, outgoing Senator Dan Mwazo and former Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadeghu.Speaking during a thanks giving ceremony at Moi Stadium, Voi, Samboja pledged to create employment opportunities for the youth and empower women. Further, he promised to exploit the county's economic potential.The Governor-elect who is credited for initiating various water projects in the county during his tenure as Coast Water Services Board Managing Director, said he will ensure the perennial water shortage in the county is brought to an end."I will ensure that there is enough water supply for the people of this great county. We want to connect as many households to water," said the Wiper Party politician.
