Retired Army Chief Julius Karangi could find his way to cabinet, barely two years after he retired from service, says Gideon Mamboleo.
President Uhuru Kenyatta could execute radical surgery in the cabinet as he seeks to strengthen various departments during his second term in office.
And key appointment that is expected could be an immediate replacement of Major General [Rtd] Joseph Nkaissery who died days to elections.
“We still have serious internal security issues accompanied by threats by Alshabaab. Uhuru could recall Karangi to his cabinet to head that vital ministry.
“That will be accompanied by serious changes that would see some ministers lose their jobs. He will be keen to strengthen many departments and we may expect a few faces to be sacrificed,” he says.
Should Kenyatta appoint Karangi to cabinet, he would be forced to sacrifice another minister from his Central Kenya backyard for the sake of inclusiveness.
Also expected to make a comeback to cabinet is Ababu Namwamba and outgoing Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka.
