Omogeni lost narrowly to the incumbent Senator Okong’o Monga’re in a hotly contested election in 2013 with the two lawyers separated by  only 2,000 votes.

And on Friday, Omogeni accused the incumbent of ‘dormancy’ and challenged residents to confirm him as the senator in 2017.

“Nyamira doesn’t have a senator since 2013 and I have been literally acting for the last four years. It’s only that I am not allowed to seat in the Senate. All I need is just a confirmation from you in the 2017 elections,” he said.

“The incumbent doesn’t understand duties of a senator  and that’s why he has been missing in action. He is dormant both in the Senate and at home. I am the right replacement and I am confident that I will win now that I have been acting for long,” he added.

Omogeni contested the last polls an ODM ticket with the incumbent running on the Ford-Kenya ticket and is on record of disowning the re-election of Mwai Kibaki as president when he was the chairperson of LSK.
