Former Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Kiala has disowned the Facebook account in which he was on Friday quoted to be supporting Governor Alfred Mutua's controversial roofing project.
In a phone interview with this writer on Friday evening, Kiala said the Facebook account on which the information was posted is a parody account created by his nemesis bent on painting a bad picture of him.
"That's not my Facebook account, I don't know the owner. It's just someone who is after tainting my name," Kiala said.
Kiala said someone has been using the fake account to post lots of views contrary to his, thereby confusing people and the media.
He said Facebook has closed the parody account after he raised complaints with its administration.
Kiala said he has not been in active politics for a while now since he lost in the Wiper party primaries in 2017.
"I have been a spectator since last elections. I have avoided engaging in politics despite being a politician," Kiala said.
The former deputy governor made the sentiments barely a day after the news went viral on various media platforms that he had hailed the Sh50 million roofing project launched by Mutua in Machakos county recently.
The project continues to receive mixed reactions from the residents with a few commenting Mutua for the 'noble' initiative, while majority term it as 'another scam'.
