Former Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Kiala has said the Supreme Court will not overturn the appellant's court on Wavinya Ndeti's petition.
Kiala said Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua should accept the Court of Appeal's verdict and wait for a by-election.
He said Mutua should prepare for the by-election which he will terribly lose.
"Mutua will have no baggage nor responsibilities after losing the by-election, he will have four good years to traverse the country hunting for votes for his presidency," Kiala said.
Kiala spoke to this writer on the phone on Sunday.
He advised Mutua to use the time after his ouster from the office to campaign for his 2022 presidential bid since he won't be held down with responsibilities.
Kiala said ejecting Mutua from the gubernatorial position will save the people of Machakos a lot of headache stating that Mutua has been riding on taxpayers' money for his campaigns.
"Governor Mutua has been riding on taxpayers' money for his 'benchmarks' and the earlier he's gotten rid off, the better for Machakos people," Kiala added.
Last Friday, the Court of Appeal stripped off Mutua's governorship after a successful appeal by his longtime political rival, Wavinya Ndeti.
The decision was reached at by a three-bench judge of the appellant court on basis that the results announced by the election body failed the constitutional test.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was asked by the court to conduct a by-election.
However, governor Mutua went ahead to appeal the ruling at the Supreme Court of Kenya.
