Former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama has termed Governor Alfred Mutua's election nullification as a big win to electoral justice and Machakos people.
Muthama says the Court of Appeal's ruling that nullified Mutua's re-election is a clear indication that the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader did not win the August 8, 2017 election.
Addressing Kangundo Town residents on Sunday, Muthama said Machakos electorates have another chance to make their choice right.
"We said it from the start that Mutua did not win re-election on August 8, 2017, and the Court of Appeal has proved that," Muthama said.
Muthama asked Mutua to prepare for a another battle that will finally send him to political oblivion.
The former senator rubbished Mutua's appeal in the Supreme Court, stating that it will not save him.
On Friday, Court of Appeal nullified Mutua's re-election on grounds that the IEBC failed to conduct a free and fair election.
In a ruling by the court of Appeal Judge William Ouko, the court said the gubernatorial election results announced by IEBC could not be verified and lacked constitutional test.
The court ordered IEBC to conduct fresh gubernatorial election in conformity to the constitution and relevant laws.
The court also ordered Mutua and IEBC to pay for the cost of the appeal that was lodged by former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti.
Mutua has since appealed the ruling, urging his supporters to remain calm.
On the other hand, Wavinya Ndeti has asked her supporters and Machakos people to prepare for a by-election as ordered by the court.
