Former Kisii Mayor Sam Omwando says demonstrations staged by a section of youths allied to ODM were ‘justified’ adding that Jubilee administration had taken Gusii community for granted.
On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta was received in Kisii town with demonstrations as locals questioned his development agenda in the region.
And in a response to his critics, the interim Kisii County ODM chair challenged Kenyatta to table new projects assigned in Gusii region.
“The worst thing among politicians is that we politicize everything. We have not asked ourselves why these youths pelted stones to presidential convoy,” he said.
Omwando further added: “Uhuru is launching new projects in other areas whereas in Kisii we remain behind development wise. He only feeds with a section of families that have robbed Gusii people.”
During his tour, Kenyatta commissioned construction of major roads despite having been under construction for a couple of years.
Also, the President said he had rewarded the Gusii community with a ministerial appointment (Fred Matiang’i) and Chief Justice Position (David Maraga).
