The Jubilee government my get ‘difficult’ times in dislodging the Opposition party ODM from the Gusii vote rich strongholds, former mayor Alloys Moseti has claimed.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have made several trips to the region in a bid to woo over one million votes from the region that overwhelmingly supported Raila Odinga in the 2013 polls.
And now Mr Moseti has questioned the approach being used by the government to consolidate support from the region, accusing it of using the ‘wrong’ people.
“The Jubilee government has the ability to win votes in Gusii and Kuria but the wrong people being used my not deliver at all due to their reputation on the ground.
“Someone like Joash Maangi and Jimmy Angwenyi are people who have been having issues with their electorate and convincing the entire population may be very difficult,” he added.
He also warned against inviting Kisii Senator Chris Obure who has also shown interest in joining the Jubilee team saying that ‘outsiders’ could take longer time to convince the voters.
“I am also being told that JAP is targeting Obure to its camp. As much as we need numbers, I don’t think newcomers can deliver either. Jubilee should do assessment on the ground and use popular leaders,” he said.
