Despite being linked to lower class people, Manduku further says he is not embarrassed to have worn the shirt for over 10 years, which he reportedly bought for Sh1000 in Mombasa.

"The shirt is still in good condition and I wear it regularly on a weekly basis. I have worn it close to 15 years and I am not ready to let it go.

"I might keep it for the next couple of years . I bought new shirts later but most are worn out now," claimed the renowned surgeon.

The former Ford People MP served in parliament for 10 years although he lost his seat twice to Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri in 1997 and 2007 elections.

At parliament in 2003, Manduku, who also served at one point as Assistant Minister in foreign Affairs, claimed MPs earning was so 'poor' that they could not afford new shirts.
