The 29-year-old's body was found in Kilgoris early this month and was transferred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

According to the family, autopsy showed that the young Sunkuli was hit with a blunt object before succumbing to internal injuries.

"A postmortem by the government and family pathologists revealed that Salaton was killed by being hit by a blunt object," said Andrew Sunkuli, the families spokesperson.

"The claims by police spokesman Charles Owino that it was an accident is far fetched. We demand foe immediate probe to the murder," he added.

The Saturday's funeral was attended by a host of politicians from the region among them Johanna Ngeno, Nick Salat and Ledama Ole Kina.

They said that the police may have been used by the perpetrators to seal evidence after ferrying the body to Kisii.
