Former Roads Minister Franklin Bett says the dynamics of Rift Valley politics may not favour firebrand Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter.
Along with his Marakwet East counterpart Kangongo Bowen, the duo had their victories nullified by Eldoret High Court.
But according to Bett, the two rebels could fail to clinch their respective seats due to anti-establishment attitude.
"Since Daniel Moi was Jomo's Vice President, a number of politicians have paid a big price for not supporting the establishment," said Bett in an interview with Sunday Standard.
He added: "Nothing has quite changed because it is difficult to come with another center of power unless they support the government."
According to him, Keter could befell a similar fate with Jean Marie Seroney Tinderet and Chelagat Mutai who served Eldoret North but lost their seats due to persistent defiance to sitting governments.
And with William Ruto at the helm, he adds, Keter and Kangongo could find it difficult to clinch their sits should they fail to 'tone down' against the government.
