Beatrice Kones, a former Assistant Minister in grand coalition government and widow to former powerful minister Kipkalya Kones, will battle out with her eldest son, Kalya Kones in Bomet East constituency.
In the unlikely turnout of events, Beatrice will be running against incumbent Bernard Bett in Jubilee primaries while Kones Junior will be in the ballot on Chama Cha Mashinani ticket.
Ms Kones was first elected to the August house in 2008, moments after her husband perished in a plane crash, few months after 2007 elections.
Even though a close family members intimates that young Kones has been approached to drop his ambitions, he is however said to have turned down the offer.
“He is ready to go to the ballot and nothing seems to be stopping him,” said a source who spoke in confidence.
“As a family, we have tried our best but nothing seems to be changing. We have decided to let them face each other,” added he source.
And to show her determination, Ms Kones has come up with campaign slogan dubbed #Rudshamamatena and is said to be thrilling locals.
