Mwangangi said the leadership of the two institutions should urgently meet in a bid to unlock the deadlock over the Sh2.4 billion supplementary budget.

This is after the MCAs, debating the governor’s memorandum in a special sitting failed to achieve the required two-thirds threshold vote to veto Mutua’s memorandum rejecting some of their proposals to the Machakos County Supplementary Appropriation Bill (2018).

Mwangangi described the situation as ‘fatal’ and called for immediate dialogue between the two arms of the government to thrash out the matter.

“I plead with both the parties-the governor and the leadership of the county assembly to meet and iron out the issues before them in order to pave way for development,” Mwangangi said.

The former lawmaker said it was wrong for elected leaders to allow political differences to influence the manner in which they discharge their service to 'wananchi'.

He said many projects earmarked for development will fail to kick off in good time thereby slowing down development projects in the county.

Speaker Florence Mwangangi, who chaired the proceedings, declared that the supplementary budget, passed three weeks ago was ‘in a limbo.’

“I will give directions on the way forward on the scenario when the assembly reconvenes on June 5th,” Mwangangi said.
