Former Kitutu Masaba MP Mwancha Okioma has challenged area leaders to join Ford People saying it ‘has solutions’ for Omogusii unity.

Okioma’s sentiments come after weeks of political activities that saw a section of leaders led by Kisii Senator Chris Obure convene a meeting dubbed the Otamba declaration where they insisted of forming a new political party to push for the community’s interests.

But Okioma on Thursday through a phone call insisted that Ford People was founded on the ideals of pushing for the community’s interests both locally and nationwide.

“I don’t see the reason why people can go around calling for the formation of a political party yet we have Ford People. The party is founded on the ideals of supporting our interests both locally and nationally,” said the Ford People chairman.

“Ford People has existing structures and my view is that leaders should support the party so that we strengthen it. It has a national outlook as well, and we even have elected members both at the county assemblies and Parliament,” he added.

He faulted the Otamba declaration calling it “hypocrisy’, and challenged the pioneers to declare their political stand rather than hoodwinking the community.

“The Otamba declaration was just but a shambolic declaration. The pioneers should tell us whether they are in Jubilee or they want to form another party. There is no need of forming a party yet we have Ford People in place,” he said.
