Former Lamu Women Representative Shakilla Abdalla has called upon the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to investigate the circumstances that led to the killing of a suspected drug trafficker in the county.The lawmaker argues that the details of the killing of Mohamed Hassan, 27, do not add up The Star has reported. Abdalla, who is the Wiper Party Deputy leader, said cases of police brutality are on the rise.“This habit of the police and KDF thinking it’s a duty to harass people whenever they feel like must end,” she said.According to police reports, Hassan was shot dead after he allegedly resisted arrest in Myaboni village in Lamu East on Saturday, following a tip-off from members of the public.The security personnel also stated that the deceased, who was allegedly found with sachets of heroin, attacked and injured one of them using a panga before he was shot dead. Confirming the incident, Lamu County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo said Hassan had been on the run for several months before he was shot dead.
