Kenya may not produce a politician of Raila Odinga’s caliber should he opt to quit active politics, claims former Kitutu Masaba MP Mwancha Okioma.
Raila, the son of the former opposition doyen, the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, has been in active politics since the 1980s and has unsuccessfully contested the top seat thrice.
And now Mr Okioma, a Ford People member, has hailed Raila as a ‘super’ politician who could not be even matched with his father Jaramogi Oginga.
“As a politician, I grew up being inspired by great politicians like Jaramogi and Mboya. I saw them holding rallies but they were never consistent like Mr. Raila Odinga,” Okioma said in an interview with the reporter.”
“He is such a charismatic leader who remains relevant all times and is a super politician who not even his late father and my role model can match. It may take time to replace him should he exit active politics,” added Okioma who is also eyeing the Nyamira gubernatorial seat.
He also lauded Raila's contribution to multiparty democracy and his ability to keep incumbent governments in check all the times.
“He fought hard for multiparty democracy, the turning point of Kenyan politics and we have seen him put government on check. He remains the smartest politician I have ever seen in the last half a century and I wish him well all the times,” he said.
