Former Kitutu Masaba lawmaker Mwancha Okioma has claimed that the top Jubilee leadership did not consult genuine party leaders and instead used brokers to seal the deal between the two parties.

Okioma who was the Ford People chairman prior to the dissolution said that the deal between his party and JP was still illegal because legit leaders of the outfit were not consulted before joining JP.

“I am really disappointed that the President and his team could use political brokers as genuine representatives of Ford People. As legitimate officials, we were not consulted and that remains so. The deal is illegal till we are consulted,” he said.

Okioma who ejected former chairman Henry Obwocha further accused some leaders in Ford People of auctioning the party.

“I took over the party leadership in February and the registrar of political parties is quite aware. We cannot allow few egocentric individual to auction the party behind our backs. Jubilee must consult as so that we look for a proper way of working together,” he said.

But in a phone call with this writer, Obwocha who had sent embattled Secretary General Ken Nyaundi to State House insisted that he was still the legitimate party chairman.

“I remain the party chairman and our move was arrived after in depth consultation. Those claiming ownership of Ford People are strangers who do not even have the party’s registration certificate,” said Obwocha.

On Tuesday, officials of Ford People were seen at State House when President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the coming together of 12 other parties to form JP.
