President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ability to convince Ford People party to fold up and join Jubilee Party was the major reason behind unexpected move of a former Kitutu Masaba MP to Ford Kenya.
Mwancha Okioma, a one term MP joined Ford Kenya a month ago where he is expected to contest for Nyamira gubernatorial seat.
Okioma was behind the unsuccessful coup in the defunct Ford People in which he temporarily took over from Henry Obwocha before bowing out earlier this year.
“The president managed convince majority of the Ford People officials to dissolve the party contrary to my position. I had no option than bowing out for another party,” he said.
“I am confident that through Ford Kenya, I will be elected to serve as governor in Nyamira. The party is quite popular and I believe we can make it,” he said in his Okioma for Governor Whatsap group.
Okioma will be hosting Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula on Sunday at Magwagwa ward in Nyamira on Sunday.
Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mong’are is the only high profile leader elected on a Ford Kenya ticket in 2013 from the entire Gusii region.
