Former Galole MP Dhado Godana has clinched the ODM ticket to contest for the Tana River governor seat during the August polls.Dhado who clinched the ticket after a bruising battle with his rivals is optimistic that he will dislodge the incumbent Governor Dado Godana who is also battling it out with other political heavyweights including Danson Mungatana for the Jubilee Party ticket.Dhado who had a checkered tenure as an MP has already been endorsed by a section of elders from his majority Pokomo community. However, should Mungatana clinch the Jubilee party ticket at the expense of the incumbent, then Dhado's tribal arithmetic will be complicated as the two have the same support base. Both Mungatana and Dhado are from Pokomo community while Governor Dado is Orma. The politician who spoke shortly after being declared the winner promised to jump-start the county's economic revival should he win the seat come August 8.He accused the incumbent of running down the county due to "incompetence".Dhado said despite the county having a huge economic potential due to immense natural resources, the residents continue to languish in poverty.
