Former political giant and Gusii kingpin Simon Nyachae remains admitted in a London hospital, a month after he was taken ill.
While his sickness remains a closely guarded family secret, a source close to the family intimates that the octogenarian politician remains admitted in Intensive Care Unit.
Last week, his nephew, Fred Matiang'i, was among top family members who visited London to check on Nyachae.
"He has been admitted at ICU and his condition has not improved since being taken there," said the source, who spoke in confidence.
He added: "The chest pains are worsening but doctors remain in control. We hope he will be discharged soon."
Despite Nyachae playing a key role in Kenyan politics, his family has remained tight lipped about his condition.
In 2002, Nyachae finished third after President Uhuru Kenyatta and eventual winner Mwai Kibaki.
