Nazlin Umar, a former presidential candidate has responded to viral reports that her life is in danger after her recent expose on persons of interest in the multimillion business of chemical-laced sugar in the country.
A user posted in popular Facebook group 'Group Kenya' quoting Nazlin Umar to have raised alarm over death threats that were targeted at her on the controversial sugar debate. The post alleged that 4 men had been assigned to kill her after linking DP William Ruto to the fake sugar debacle.
Nazlin has however refuted the claims saying she has no knowledge of where the author of the post obtained the information from.
"This post has been trending on Group Kenya unknown to me. I have been severely threatened on several occasions even with gunmen, topmost leaders, chase cars with armed thugs/police, raids to my residence/presidential Secretariat. All that was reported to the police, part of whom were under instructions from above and are recorded in frustrated court petitions," Nazlin said.
"But this post is false in that I have not stated anywhere that 4 men have been hired to kill me since I exposed DP Ruto. I have not. As soon as I exposed Ruto, the same day this attached post was published. " She added.
" It seems the author of this post is privy to information of hired assassins to assassinate me and he ought to assist the police with investigations or the police need to investigate him. In either event, the police need to investigate the source and possibility of this threat and who the real crafter's behind this post are as well as others all over FB & Twitter since I made the exposé."
The vocal political activist vowed that she won't be silenced with intimidation.
"I am a Muslim and would be honored with the death of a martyr. I am ready to meet my Lord," Nazlin affirmed.
The tough-talking Nazlin on Sunday, June 17 unleashed her weapon against Deputy President William Somoei Ruto over the importation of contaminated sugar.
Nazlin called for immediate arrest and prosecution of DP Ruto and some of his confidants who allegedly are the mysterious faces behind the poisonous sugar.
She claimed, Ruto is abusing state machinery under his arm to threaten investigating agencies not to expose his underhand dealings.
"William Samoei Ruto is the mastermind and main beneficiary behind the poisonous sugar. And his right-hand minions. There I have said what other leaders fear to say. Arrest DP Ruto and his right-hand loudmouths. Stop playing sideshows and going for those acting in Ruto's proxy," she posted on her social pages.
