Former presidential candidate James Ole Kiyiapi has echoed opposition leader Raila Odinga's sentiments against Western envoys.
On Sunday while visiting Kijiji slum fire victims in Southlands Nairobi, Odinga slammed Western diplomats after they urged him to recognise Uhuru Kenyatta as legitimate Kenya's president.
According to the former prime minister, the envoys should leave Kenyans to solve their problems without interference. He accused them of pursuing Kenya's resources and not helping Kenyans get electoral justice or democracy.
On Twitter, Kiyiapi who unsuccessfully vied for the country's top seat in 2013 alongside Raila, Uhuru and other candidates, said Western envoys are primarily about interests of their countries.
Kiyiapi backed Odinga, saying Kenyans should be allowed to solve their issues uninterrupted.
"Western envoys are primarily about interests of their countries and therefore not impartial arbiters of the Kenyan political situation. Let Kenyans navigate thru their own issues. We are tired of interventions that do not fundamentally change our governance matrix!" said the former Education PS.
