A former presidential candidate has defended Alfred Keter after an Eldoret Court nullified his election as Nandi Hills MP.
During his ruling on Thursday, Justice Kanyi Kimondo also directed the DPP to investigate Keter for campaigning outside the stipulated time.
James Ole Kiyiapi asked the embattled controversial Jubilee party politician not to lose hope but to stay more focused as he looks forward to participating in the by-election.
"My unsolicited advice to my friend Hon. Alfred Keter, (pole for electoral loss) but you have a great future in politics, defend your seat afresh with utmost integrity," said Kiyiapi, who also served as Education Principal Secretary.
"Going forward, choose what battles to fight! To be a Seroney, you must up your game, be serious and focused!" he added.
After the nullification, Keter blamed the tribulations on the Executive following his tough stance on cases of corruption across the country.
He said he saw the ruling coming and that he was not surprised after the Eldoret High Court nullified his election. Keter said he was being fought by top government bosses after he came out to fight corruption.
“I am not shocked at all at the outcome, I expected this because I know I am in a big fight and I am being fought from the top. I have since discovered serious embezzlement of public funds," said the embattled Jubilee party lawmaker.
Keter who addressed supporters in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, said he would not be cowed but would continue with his anti-graft crusade.
"Money meant for the elderly, people with disabilities, IDPs being embezzled and I am being fought for trying to fight this menace,” noted Keter, adding that he was ready for a by-election.
"I am not a coward! I am ready for an election even today."
