Moi’s ID number 0000001 has registered one Joseph Marrion Nchabani Mwika who is recorded to have been born in 1968, and whose BVR unique identity is 575114.

The retired president's name appears nowhere in the BVR registers when one keys in his ID number.

What appears is Mwika’s name, a vindication of the fears that the IEBC register has been corrupted.

Kibaki’s ID number 00000002 has registered eight different voters whose names are Mbinya Wanjiru, Kanja Julius Ngede Kihinge, Gitonga Wilson Kimathii, Victoria Gatwiri, Evans Kariuki Kirinya, Mu Ko Mugara, Duncan Muia, and Caroline Nduta.

All these, registered using Kibaki’s single ID card number, have been given unique identification numbers in the electoral commission's BVR system.

Kibaki’s spokesperson Gituku Ngare lamented that it was sad that people “have the temerity to manipulate such rare ID numbers” and claimed that those who had blown the whistle were behind the scheme.

“The people who are receiving those ID numbers and registering people using them are to blame first because of their idiocy. It is common sense that such rare numbers can only be used by VIPs. I am alarmed,” he said.
