Though little known by many, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro's rise in politics perfectly suits the famous say 'from grass to grace'.
At the age of 29, Osoro beat all cultural and political prejudices to pull a 'Trump' in August 2017 elections by defeating seasonal politicians.
Denaounced by ODM party ahead of primaries last year, Osoro recalls, he would be later accommodated in the little known KNC under his predecessor Manson Nyamweya, who had contested Kisii gubernatorial seat.
"I am not interested in what people say about me. I was despised and rejected even by major parties but I trusted in God," he wrote in a WhatsApp group.
He added: "Without parents and from streets, I was able to complete my school. Winning parliamentary seat was a culmination of God's favour to me."
With a complicated schooling history ranging from hawking and sleeping in streets of Nairobi, Osoro managed to complete school from Strathmore University where he specialised in conveyance law.
In 2013, Osoro vied unsuccessfully for Mukuru Kwa Reuben MCA before bowing out. He would later win South Mugirango parliamentary seat four years later.
Although he is a NASA member, Osoro has firmly opposed Raila Odinga's swearing-in on grounds that it may not yield fruits and instead called for dialogue.
