The man charged with a murder trial a former Wananchi Group chief executive accused of killing his Kenyan girlfriend has been set for August 25 this year.This after the director of public prosecutions (DPP), Keriako Tobiko, declined a settlement between the parties in the case involving ex-CEO Richard Alden, 53, a British national.Lady Justice Jessie Lessit yesterday directed that the case be heard without any further delay.Lawyer Pravin Bowry for the accused said the suspect is ready to proceed with the trial and have the case determined expeditiously, adding that his client is currently jobless “with no source of income.”He is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Grace Wangechi Kinyanjui, at his Karen home in Nairobi.He is out on a cash bail of Sh1 million.The DPP has since withdrawn a criminal case where Mr Alden was charged with being in possession of a firearm without a licence.The accused was arrested and arraigned in court after investigators ruled out an initial report that the girlfriend had shot herself while playing with the pistol last year.Mr Alden has denied killing the deceased.
