Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho and gubernatorial aspirant Hezron Awiti on Saturday caused excitment in the region after sharing a platform after many years.
It has been alleged that there has been tension between two leaders.
Joho had visited Nyali constituency to launch a road expansion project where they met, hugged and pledged to unveil peaceful campaigns and foster peace among supporters.
According to the two, they were opening a new era of political tolerance among rival politicians.
The two rivals were greeted with huge crowds along Links Road and outside Mamba Village.
The Nyali lawmaker described the encounter as n historic day to remember.
On his part, Joho said the meeting demonstrated that people of Mombasa are united as One.
