For six uninterrupted years, Deputy President William Ruto's Jubilee has enjoyed support from the region despite Kanu's advances.

At Kericho on Sunday, Gideon Moi revealed that the party is also in talks with several leaders from South Rift among them Isaac Ruto as 2022 politics takes shape.

"We have been recruiting members in a secret campaign and I think many of you have seen our youths doing a good job.

"Equally, I have been reaching out to leaders silently. We have Isaac Ruto, Zakayo Chruiyot and many others who will declare their stand soon," he said.

During the event, Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony hinted backing Moi's 2022 bid thus raising questions about Ruto's influence.

Last year, both Ruto, Cheruiyot and Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng'eno were among leaders who gave the DP sleepless nights in his quest to stamp authority in the region.
