A week prior to Aberdares's plane crash, Onyonka had used the aircraft to his Kitale farm and reportedly had intentions to travel to his expansive farm in North Rift.

In an interview, Onyonka conceded that most MPs have had used the ill-fated aircraft adding that it was miraculous that none used it that fateful day.

"I am a frequent visitor to North Rift and I have used the aircraft several times including twice last week," said the Ford Kenya MP.

He added: "It is just by the mercy of God I did not travel to Kitale this weekend because I cancelled most of my plans. In fact, many of my colleagues use it."

Also said to have survived the crash is Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa who is said to have cancelled the flight during the fateful day.

For Onyonka, the aircraft may have crashed because it cannot fly to certain heights due to its small surface area. He also admits of knowing Captain Barbara Kamau.
