Outspoken Garissa Township Member of Parliament and Leader of the Majority Aden Duale is happily married to a beautiful woman.
What many Kenyans don't know is that Duale married into the family of a soldier who rose through the ranks to the top echelons of the Kenyan military.
His name is General Mohamed Mohamud, a tough military man who is not well known among the millennials.
But who is General Mohamed Mohamud?
Here are some facts about him that you may not know:
He served in the colonial army, having joined in 1953 and became the commander of an infantry division after Kenya gained independence.
The former Dujis MP Hussein Maalim Mohamed is his brother.
He never attended primary schools.
In 1982, he did the unimaginable; he saved the Moi presidency from being toppled by mutinous soldiers after dispatching soldiers to prevent the coup.
For that, he was awarded by President Moi the Uhodari Medal, an award given to people who display rare courage.
He is perhaps widely known for this historic act.
It is in 1986 that he was installed as the Chief of General Staff of the Kenya Defence Forces in honour of his courage and bravery.
