On Tuesday, the PG and NEC will hold a meeting at Orange House where Mr. Odinga is expected to unveil a strategy to safeguard his strongholds especially in Gusii and coastal region.

"We have been holding meetings with mainstream and youth leadership across the county and on Tuesday, the party would table the decision," said ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire.

"But from henceforth, party leadership would fund activities such as fund drives, community projects besides fully participating in other social functions such as funerals," he added.

As constituted currently, the party has not been funding activities in its strongholds and instead, county leadership only becomes active whenever Raila is around.

ODM lawyer Tonny Moturi says the party is keen to unleash finances remitted by elected members in her strongholds to increase its presence.

"We are not going to allow him (Ruto) spread in our territories. We shall ensure all our county leadership is empowered to run activities. This will commence this July."

Among the counties targeted are Kisii and Nyamira, all coastal counties, Western and North Eastern part of the country.
