The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has failed to hit its target of the mass voter registration exercise, two weeks after kicking off countrywide.
The agency received the second week preliminary data from the field on the drive, released by chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Chebukati expressed concern that some counties with highest potential voting population (100,000 and above) were below 20 per cent of their total targets.
The counties include: Vihiga, Nyeri, Kisii, Kericho, Kakamega, Bungoma, Siaya, and Kitui.
"We are asking stakeholders in these counties to work closely with our officers to ensure that all eligible Kenyans are registered,'' he said.
