Majority Leader Aden Duale is a proud husband to the daughter of retired General Mahmoud Mohammed.
Despite the norms in the Somali culture that encourages suitors to pay lucrative amounts of the dowry, the Garissa township MP went against these cultural dictates and settled the dowry of his own volition.
Duale claims he handed 'only' four cows to his father-in-law family as the dowry that officially marked the union of the " two lovebirds".
"I only paid four cows for my wife. I have five sons, with the eldest in university, and the youngest in kindergarten. I love my family so much,” said the vocal Jubilee member according to a mainstream local publication.
The alumnus of Moi University and JKUAT University has recently been vocal about the unrealistic skyrocketing bride pride among his Somali community, maintaining that the pride prices have to be lowered to allow the youthful bachelors in the region to embrace marriages undeterred.
