At the request of the flamboyant governor, Raila held talks that lasted for almost an hour in his Capitol Hill offices.

During the meeting, Raila is said to have reminded the governor to borrow a leaf from the Narc and grand coalition government, which were largely inclusive.

"A time comes when you just need to put your feet down , identify a company and award tenders so that work can start," said Raila in reference to garbage collection.

He added: "In the archives, we have Nairobi We Want journal which lists problems and solutions the county should tackle. That will help you deal with some of challenges."

On his part, Sonko congratulated Odinga for agreeing to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta to unite the country.

Further, the governor identified garbage collection as his toughest challenge but said he has put mechanisms in place to solve the issue.
