While his sideline statement may have been not taken serious,  Raila was attributing to sentiments by Waititu that he does not still trust him.

At a Church service in Nairobi a fortnight ago, Waititu openly cautioned President Uhuru Kenyatta against his handshake with Raila.

"I don't have a problem with you working with Raila but I still don't trust him," he said.

The first term county boss added: " Even if am asked to close eyes while praying next to him,  I won't."

And a close aide to Raila said the former premier also asked Waititu to work with all leaders to foster unity across the country.

" They shared light jokes and Raila asked him to work with other leaders to foster unity.  He also asked him to trust him all the time," said the aide,  who spoke in confidence.

The Tuesday's meeting was the first between the two leaders,  in an event which was also attended by deputy president William Ruto.

Apparently, Raila had hosted Waititu's predecessor, William Kabogo at his Upper Hill offices a week ago.
